Appearance:
Lars is a very tall man, who isn’t an exception to the fact that the Dutch are the tallest of the world. His chosen hairstyle also doesn’t make him seem any shorter. He has light brown hair and green eyes. He may look intimidating to people, due to his often annoyed or uninterested expression. On his forehead he has a scar, right above his right eyebrow.

Personality:
Lars is not a person you want to mess with. Being tall, muscular and straight-faced, he often comes across as rather intimidating. He never had a problem with this himself, as it kept away the people he didn’t want to talk to. If those people did approach him, he could usually seem pretty cold. He is very direct in both words and actions to the point people might consider him as rude. He doesn’t speak a lot though, only when it’s necessary.

You wouldn’t say it at first, but once you get to know him, he’s a good guy. There aren’t many that get close to him though, due to his cold and distant attitude. There aren’t willing to make the effort to push past that, but those who manage to get a place in this guy’s heart have a good friend.

What many people wouldn’t expect from him, is that he has a weak spot for cute things, like animals and young women. He owns a rabbit called Miffy. As a rather cruel joke, he nicknamed the bunny ‘Eerste Kerst Avond’, shortened as ‘Eka’. This basically translates to ‘First Christmas Eve’, meaning that the animal would serve as food then. Though Lars wouldn’t be able to actually do that. The rabbit lives in his small backyard. In that same backyard, he has a garden with tulips, which he grows with great care. Though they only bloom once a year, so at other times of the year it looks rather plain and boring.

History:
Lars grew up in the south of the Netherlands, where the people have that lovely dialect and talk with a ‘soft G’. They lived at a farm, so he spend a lot of time outside. Though at some point his father couldn’t make enough money anymore. So they sold the farm and moved to Amsterdam.

Ever since he was little, he loved the winter. Specially the ice skating that came with it. In fact, he loved so much, he wanted to become a professional. Lars entered contests and became better and better. Even after moving to the city, Lars didn’t quit. He missed being able to skate on natural ice in the winter, but there were more skating rinks around than when he lived at the farm.

Though about a year ago an accident happened. Due to a knee injury, he was forced to give up his dream. He still has a hard time accepting this and will go onto the ice whenever he gets the chance. His knee is good enough for occasional recreational skating, just not the professional stuff. The prizes he won with various contests are stacked away in a box. He isn’t able to get rid of them, but doesn’t want to be reminded of it all the time either.

Once his skating career stranded, Lars fled the Netherlands and made a new start. Not knowing what else to do with his life, he started to look for a job. His physical condition was still good, and he made sure to stay in shape. So he was hired as a security guard at a model company. Though since the end of his skating career, Lars has started to smoke, which makes it a bit harder to keep in shape.

Since he had to find himself a new hobby, Lars also started painting. He doesn’t talk about it much, so a lot of people don’t know. Somehow they always seem surprised when they find out. But that’s probably because he’s not the type people would expect it from. He gets to see models all day long at his job, so they provide the inspiration necessary for his works.

RP Sample:
Art class was one of his favourite classes, and not just because he enjoyed drawing. Landscapes and whatever was fun to draw, but nothing was better than painting human life, in all it’s naked glory. His lips formed a small smirk as he looked at the model they were supposed to be drawing. The woman was a bit old for his tastes, but she still had very, very nice curves.

His charcoal scratched over the paper, making that lovely sound that charcoal makes when you draw with it. They were warming up with just quick two-minute sketches. They had to get as much of the model as they could on the paper in two minutes, before the model would take on a different pose and they would have to start over again. Rough forms formed on his paper and after two minutes the model was vaguely recognizable already. No details, no facial features, just the form. He took out a new paper for the next pose. Lars hoped the warming up was over soon. While he enjoyed seeing the model from all different angles and putting them on paper, he wanted to have some more time to work out the drawing. With such nice curves, doing the shading would be a real nice thing to do. And that lovely face was just asking to put on the paper with some detail.

Lars put some last lines on his sketch before the teacher announced that the two minutes were over again. The warming up was over and the poses would now last half an hour before changing. After putting up a new sheet of paper, Lars looked at the new pose. The model was giving him a nice side view of her body. The small smirk on his lips made place for a look of concentration as Lars set to work on drawing the profile of the woman.
